Wharton Global Youth Online Program
This is the second part of a three-part series on Wharton Global Youth Summer Programs.
The Wharton Global Youth Program provides a plethora of educational programs. The programs inspire pre-collegiate students to explore business practices, analyze the world’s complex challenges, and take the first steps in becoming leaders who will transform the global economy. The students have a choice of various options. All participants who successfully complete the program earn a Wharton Global Youth Certificate of Completion.
They can participate in On-Campus, Online, or Location-based Programs.
Wharton Global Youth Online Program
Wharton Global Youth Meetup (GYM)
The Wharton Global Youth Meetup or GYM is a platform that enhances students’ online experience. The students who are enrolled in an online program can engage with the Wharton Global Youth community before, during, and after their academic programs for nine weeks. The GYM access includes participation in the 9-week Summer Stock Market Challenge, based on the Wharton Global Youth High School Investment Competition, and live workshops or panels from undergrads and alumni from Wharton and Penn.
Future of the Business World
Future of the Business World introduces unique business themes with Wharton faculty. It is an immersive experience for high school students. The students take part in conversations that revolve around the idea that the world is constantly changing, with new trends and scenarios emerging daily, propelling the business world into uncharted territory. Students gain new insights from Wharton research and content, including innovation and entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, trends, and scenario planning. The online program includes collaborative projects with peers around the world and original real-time business simulations.
The classes are held from Monday to Friday and the sessions include a mixture of live, online class sessions, facilitated, small group discussions, collaborative group work, and independent work, completed within the Wharton Online Learning Platform. The live sessions follow a block schedule.
Essentials of Leadership
Essentials of Leadership program is a challenging two-week program for high school students who wish to become leaders in the global economy. Through a curriculum of rigorous coursework and activities, students will build skills in emotional intelligence, problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and effective teamwork and collaboration. The students get the opportunity to learn from Wharton faculty and guest speakers.
Students work collaboratively on projects like The Saturn Parable. It is an advanced leadership simulation from Wharton Interactive, utilized by Executive and MBA students. The simulation takes place in 2087 and students assume the role of a member of the Enceladus Expedition, the first commercial space mission to Saturn’s moon Enceladus, whose south pole provides the only reliable source of liquid water beyond Earth. Each player will have to navigate real-world challenges in this fictional setting, receiving continuous, adaptive performance feedback via the gaming interface.
Sports Business Academy
Sports Business Academy is an intensive three-week program for high school juniors and seniors. The program is sponsored by the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative (WSABI). Students gain insight into the leadership, management, and increasingly global nature of the sports business. WSBA students attend academic lectures, and guest speakers, and engage in activities. They are introduced to core business disciplines such as management, law, negotiation, marketing, and leadership as they intersect with the sports industry. The students get the opportunity to test their potential as future sports business leaders.

Moneyball Academy: Training Camp and Training Camp Flex
Moneyball Academy: Training Camp is a comprehensive one-week program that focuses on sports statistics. This program is taught by Wharton Professor Adi Wyner and guest faculty. Students learn the advanced programming coding language R used by professional statisticians. As part of this program, students understand sports analyses in articles and create their own projects.
Moneyball Academy: Training Camp Flex
Moneyball Academy: Training Camp FLEX is a comprehensive three-week, online introduction to statistics and coding with an emphasis on sports statistics. The program is developed by Wharton Professor Adi Wyner and the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative. This program is taught by Wharton Professor Adi Wyner and guest faculty. Students learn the advanced programming coding language R used by professional statisticians. As part of this program, students understand sports analyses in articles and create their own projects.
Understanding Your Money
Understanding Your Money is an on-demand self-paced program. The program has 4 modules and it takes 13-15 hours to complete this program. The online video lessons are delivered by the Wharton faculty. The students learn money-management concepts, principles in financial decision-making, budgeting skills, and investing strategies.
Admissions
The Wharton Youth Global Program is highly selective. Applicants may apply to more than one program. A new application is required for each program. Every program has a different set of essays, supplemental materials, and eligibility criteria. The applications will not be reviewed only after the submission of all materials. The applications and supplemental materials should be submitted on the Summer Discovery platform.
Eligibility Requirements:
GPA: High school students require a minimum of 3.3 unweighted GPA. A minimum of 3.5 unweighted GPA is preferred for the Leadership in the Business World and the Management and Technology Summer Institute.
High School Transcripts: The applicants are required to upload unofficial transcripts with at least two marking periods of grades.
Standardized Test Scores: PSAT, and SAT/ACT scores are optional
Recommendation Letters:
All programs require a recommendation letter from a high school guidance counselor, teacher, or advisor. The applicants should enter the recommender’s contact information directly into the application system. The number of recommendation letters varies by the program as given below:

This program is applicable for students enrolled in grades 9-12 with academic excellence. The applicant’s profile must portray leadership skills and should be focused on improving their entrepreneurial mindset.
Essentials of Leadership
This competitive program is for high school students currently enrolled in grades 9-12. The students should demonstrate leadership roles.
Sports Business Academy
The applicants of this program should be in grades 10-11. The students should show an interest in sports and business management.
Moneyball Academy: Training Camp
Students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 are eligible for this program. The program is highly selective. Applicants should have strong math skills and they should be interested in coding and statistics.
Moneyball Academy: Training Camp Flex
Students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 are eligible for this program. The program is highly selective. Applicants should have strong math skills and they should be interested in coding, statistics, and sports.
Understanding Your Money
Understanding Your Money has no application process or prerequisites. Students enrolled in grades 9-12 can simply click the Enroll Now button and start learning.
