This means that 91% of first-year students continue their education for their sophomore year and beyond. The 4-year graduation rate is 70%. This implies that 70% of students were able to graduate after 4 years. The 6-year graduation rate is 82%. This implies that 82% of students were able to graduate after 6 years.

Admissions

Acceptance Rate

The University of Miami’s Class of 2027  had a 19% acceptance rate out of a sizable pool of 49,167 applicants. 27% of the accepted students hail from Florida, while 64% come from outside the state, including 55.2% female and 44.8% male students. Additionally, 9% of the admitted students were international students. The final cohort of accepted students represented nearly 5,000 high schools worldwide.

The admitted students have an average of 3.8 or higher unweighted GPA.

Types of Admission

The University of Miami’s applicants can apply through the Early Action, Early Decision, or Regular Decision programs. Early Decision is a binding admission plan for students who have determined that The University of Miami is their first choice and who feel they can present a strong application without senior grades being reviewed. Students admitted through the Early Decision admission plan are required to cancel their applications elsewhere and enroll in The University of Miami. Early Action is a non-binding and unrestrictive admission plan that may be an attractive option for those feel they can present a strong application without senior grades being reviewed. Regular Decision is a non-binding and unrestrictive admission plan that allows students more time to complete the application and to have grades from the first term of their senior year considered in the review.

Official high school transcript: An official high school transcript will display courses and grades for all years of high school attended. 

Mid-year grades: Mid-year grades are the first semester or first trimester grades from your final year of high school.

School Report: The School Report should be completed by your high school guidance counselor. 

Letter of recommendation: You must submit one letter of recommendation, which can be from either a school counselor or a teacher. If you choose to send a letter of recommendation from a teacher, it must be from a core academic teacher who worked with a student in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.

Standardized Test Scores: While test scores are optional for students applying for fall 2023 and fall 2024, the average SAT scores for admitted students were between 1380 and 1500, and the average ACT scores were between 31 and 34.
